Creating signage fit for a Queen for the largest museum’s in the world

The British Museum is a public institution curating human history, art and culture based in Bloomsbury, London. It contains around eight million pieces which span two million years of human history.

A revived gallery on Chinese and South Asian history

In late 2017, after significant donation, The British Museum had finished refurbishing their Sir Joseph Hotung Gallery of China and South Asia, which spans the length of a football pitch. With new lighting and design, the refurbished display takes visitors through China and South Asia’s fascinating history in a more accessible and interactive way.

To add the finishing touch, the British Museum’ management team procured JFK to produce the informational signage for the gallery. Moreover, this signage needed to be of exceptional quality and finish, as the Queen would be opening the gallery in a ceremonial event.

A suite of floor-to-ceiling bronze informational signage

At JFK we love a challenge, so we were thrilled to create signage fit for a Queen. In light of this, we worked close with The British Museum and their design partners to create a whole suite of beautiful full-walled bronze informational plaques with a unique antique patina and detailed text engravings.
